UK COORDINATOR
Development in Action is looking for a new UK Coordinator. This is an exciting opportunity for someone dedicated to working in the field of global youth work/development education who is seeking a diverse, demanding and rewarding experience in a youth-for-youth organisation. The post involves a wide variety of tasks and responsibilities, working closely with the management committee, trustees and volunteers. DiA is a small NGO working to engage young people in global issues. We do this through a variety of activities including: - Volunteer placement scheme (VPS) with partner organisations in India
- Volunteers' production of 'DiA projects' post-placement, to engage young people in global issues
- UK volunteer scheme to promote global education in the UK
- Magazine and website (written and developed by volunteers)
Purpose of Job The role of UK Coordinator is pivotal to the success of DiA, and involves the day-to-day coordination, administration and representation of the organisation. The post holder is responsible for managing all aspects of the overseas volunteer placement scheme, as well as a UK-based volunteer programme and development education work. It also includes support and management of all volunteers, the management committee and reporting to the trustees. Position in Organisation The Coordinator is the only paid member of staff at DiA. The post holder works closely with the volunteer-led management committee and the board of trustees and is line-managed and supported by a trustee. - Job Title: UK Coordinator
- Salary: £8.24 per hour (review pending)
- Contract: 1 year contract with scope for extension
- Working Hours: 23 hours per week. Flexible working hours - at least half of hours should be worked Mon-Fri, 9am-5pm. Post holder is expected to be able to attend meetings and events in the evening and at weekends
- Holiday: 20 days holiday per year pro rata
- Probation: 2 month probation period
- Location: Working from home (UK-based) with frequent travel to London and other parts of the UK for meetings, training, recruitment etc
