Kavita joined DiA as Chair in 2016. She has a keen interest in global citizenship, particularly the global-local nexus. She hopes to raise the profile of DiA’s UK programme in order to spread awareness on the growing importance of global citizenship today, whilst continuing the successes of DiA’s long-standing India programme.
Having undertaken an MSc in Development Studies, Kavita has since gained extensive and varied experience in the development sector. She has spent two years in China both teaching English and studying Chinese, and another 13 months in India working as a researcher for a women’s labour union and volunteering for a women’s anti domestic violence NGO. She now works for the British Asian Trust, implementing and monitoring programmes with NGO partners in the South Asia region.
