DiA has two UK Volunteer Support Officers, Kate and Rachael. This year the Committee has tasked them with evaluating DiA's previous UK Volunteer Programmes. Below is an update from Rachael on how they're getting on. March 2011 "This year myself and Kate are focusing on evaluating DiA's UK Volunteer Programme. DiA's Committee have facilitated many different types of Volunteering over the years but a recent focus has been on Global Citizenship Education. This is an exciting aspect of our Volunteer Programme and in 2008 DiA were lucky enough to get the funding to do a two-year pilot scheme in Cambridge; training volunteers to deliver Global Citizenship workshops to young adults in the community. This year we are conducting an evaluation of this pilot scheme, the results of which will help us build the foundations of a sustainable and exciting UK Volunteer Programme. Alongside this particular evaluation we are also facilitating current Volunteer opportunities and developing new areas for volunteers to be involved in. This is a very exciting piece of work as it will bring together all aspects of the Committee. Current opportunities involve both previous India Volunteers and new Volunteers and this year have seen people involved in recruitment fairs, supporting Roshni's fundraising work and DiA's new online blog."
