Volunteer in the UK for Development in Action

How can you get involved?

As a volunteer led organisation we have numerous opportunities for interested volunteers to get involved in the UK. From writing an article for the DiA magazine to delivering workshops in local school to holding a fundraising curry night, our UK Volunteering Scheme offers you varied and exciting ways to get involved.

What commitment are we asking for?

Volunteering for Development in Action doesn't need to take a lot of your time. Due to the nature of our work, we would only be asking for a little of your time on an irregular basis. This means you don't need to commit to a regular amount of hours or time each week. In each case we would check you are able to take on a task before assigning it to you. We would need you to be self-motivated and able to work independently.

Where would you work?

Development in Action is a nationwide organisation, so we welcome volunteers from any part of the UK. We are particularly keen for you to work actively in your local area to raise awareness of global issues and promote global citizenship. Development in Action does not have an office and so volunteers do need to be able to work from home and keep contact via phone or email. There will be opportunities to meet with the Development in Action committee and other volunteers at meetings, trainings and events and we will encourage volunteers in the same area to meet up and work together.

What will you gain?

Volunteering for an organisation like DiA with its unique activities anjd ethos will provide you with excellent skills and if you have considered working in the development sector will be great experience for you.

As a small and non-hierarchical organisation we can offer volunteers real opportunity to take responsibility and we welcome and support new ideas.

Far from being isolated we like to meet all volunteers and offer you ongoing oppotunities to network and socialise with the DiA committee, other volunteers and partner organisations.

Volunteering for DiA allows you to contribute to a progressive and exciting NGO. This is your chance to get involved, take action & make a difference
