Impressions of the ‘Make Poverty History’ rally from people on the DiA bus

As with any mass movement confusions abound, apathy's afterthought or a clear voice of engagement only history will judge. Any attempt to stimulate the public consciousness can only be a good thing. - John McGeachy

I thought the whole day was a great energising event that brought together an impressive variety of people for an undeniably good cause. I loved every minute (including the immense bus journey). And the samba bands were fantastic!! - Laura Hughes

My experience in Edinburgh earlier this year has not left my mind since I got on the bus to leave and return down South. The atmosphere, the moving speeches, the huge air of cooperation, patience and goodwill that was exhibited by the vast crowd, not to mention the more hedonistic joys of chatting over a few cold beers with lovely people in gorgeous sunshine, all contributed to making it a vivid and memorable chapter in my life. Of course, with the memory of the incredible day has endured also a memory of the issues that the event sought to raise awareness of, and I hope this has been the case with all the other thousands of people that were there or who witnessed the demonstration through the media.

It is doubtful that I ever would have made it to Edinburgh without the cheap, stress-free and comfortable option of the DiA bus. Thanks to DiA for all the hard work and congratulations to them on making their own contribution to the demonstrations so successful. - Matt Daw
